Description: The Steading is perhaps the most important wine within the Torbreck portfolio, the one that best exemplifies what Torbreck is all about. All the fruit for The Steading is sourced from our own vineyard estates as well as from growers on a share-farming basis, totalling 45 different sources of fruit, all vinified separately and blended once their individual virtues have been assessed. The wine is matured between 18 and 24 months in seasoned oak casks before it is bottled un-fined and un-filtered. This wine is particularly well suited to Restaurants where its ethereal qualities marry wonderfully to great food. Very ‘Burgundian’ in style, The Steading’s generous and supple flavours combined with its silken texture are a rewarding and very versatile choice with all types of cuisine. Deep ruby with flickers of violet, its delicate aromas of truffle, five spice and spring flowers are supported by a rich core of framboise, licorice, saddle leather and Provencal herbs. Very ‘Burgundian’ in style, the palate is elegant and pure with subtle notes of crushed cherries, earth and cedar all neatly wound by a taught spine of acidity and ripe supple tannins. The 2006 Steading will continue to unfold with time in the cellar & shall provide those with the patience great enjoyment for many years to come.

The Wine Advocate 91 FOR THE 2013 VINTAGE
A Grenache, Mataro (Mourvèdre) and Shiraz blend, the medium garnet colored 2013 The Steading has a maturing nose of kirsch, baked raspberries and dried mulberries with an earth, garrigue and leather undercurrent plus a waft of spice box. The full-bodied palate is soft, velvety and open-knit with tons of seductive red berries preserves flavors leading to a long spicy finish.
