Winery: Lavinea
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Description: Nestled at very high elevation between Domaine Drouhin Oregon and Archery Summit on either sides, Nysa is our latest ripening vineyard which sets naturally low yields on intense volcanic Jory soils. Planted in 2003, this is our youngest of the portfolio, yet one of the most complex capturing the typical cherry notes of the area completed by earthy characters with wonderful textures and a long vibrant finish.

The Wine Advocate NA FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
The 2014 Nysa Vineyard Pinot Noir was picked on 23 September from 13-year-old vines and it was matured in 30% new French oak. It has quite an elegant bouquet with plum redcurrant and raspberry fruit on the nose. Perhaps a little more precision would not go amiss, but it is very attractive. The palate is soft and rounded, moderate complexity with well-judged acidity that lends this Pinot edginess. It does not fan out on the finish as I would like, but there is commendable depth with a little headiness on the opulent finish. Enjoy this now and over the next 5-8 years.
Wine Spectator 91 FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
Deftly balanced, focused and juicy, with cherry, raspberry, bouillon and spice flavors. Powdery tannins dust the lengthy finish. Has presence, nerve and length. Best from 2018 through 2024.
Vinous - Antonio Galloni 92 FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE
Limpid ruby. Primary, spice-accented dark berry and cherry scents pick up notes of succulent herbs and smoky minerals with aeration. Plush and expansive on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry and cherry cola flavors, along with hints of anise, cola and candied flowers. Closes very long, chewy and spicy, displaying resonating dark fruit character and chewy, late-arriving tannins.
Wine Spectator 93 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE Expressive and refined, with violet and savory black tea aromas that open to sleekly layered cherry, river stone and spice flavors. Drink now through 2025. 308 cases made.
Wine Enthusiast 93 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE Tightly packed with tart berry fruit, highlighted with sharp tangy acidity, there's some bite to this young wine which should profit from further bottle age. Black cherry and blood orange, along with hints of pepper and mushroom, display the range and depth of flavor here. Drink from 2022 on.
