Wine Spectator 91 Firm and focused, with a lovely, finely detailed mousse, this compact Champagne shows a layered mix of dried apricot, toast, slivered almond, candied pink grapefruit zest and fleur de sel. Mouthwatering. Disgorged March 2015. Drink now through 2019. 80 cases imported.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 "Light orange with a slow bead. Spicy, gently smoky redcurrant and blood orange aromas are impressively precise and nervy. Brisk, very dry red berry and citrus flavors are pleasantly bitter and finely etched, with dusty minerals adding further vivacity. Utterly stains the palate, finishing dry and with rapier-like cut. I love this wine's uncompromising personality. This is a blend based on 60% chardonnay (from Mesnil), with the rest pinot noir from the estate's home premier cru village of Bisseuil and Ambonnay."
Wine & Spirits Magazine 90 BEST BUY! "Made from chardonnay (70%), pinot noir (27%), and a small addition of red wine, this rose is vinified in old oak casks. That wood influence is apparent at first taste, accenting the wine's power and density. With air, red fruit arrives to fill out the broad, toasty structure. A match for toro sashimi."
The Wine Advocate 92+ The onion colored NV Premier Cru Rosé Extra Brut is a blend of 70% Chardonnay from a steep, east-facing vineyard named La Louvière, with 27% Pinot Noir and 3% red wine from Ambonnay. Pure and very fresh on the nose, the chalky, very vinous and delicate bouquet leads to an almost steely mineral palate with great freshness and purity. This is a straight, complex, very vital and persistent Rosé that is mostly based on the 2013 vintage, completed with wine from the 2012 vintage. Pretty complex and terribly fresh. Disgorged in November 2016 as Extra Brut. Tasted April 2018.
The Wine Advocate 91 Disgorged in March 2018, the latest release of Gonet-Medeville's NV Extra Brut Rosé Premier Cru opens in the glass with notes of orange rind, sweet red berries and gingerbread. On the palate, it's full-bodied, fleshy and vinous, with a textural attack, good depth and dimension at the core, ripe but racy acids and a long, mouthwatering finish. (5/2020)
