Wine Spectator 91 Refined in texture, with a silky bead and a firm backbone of acidity, finely meshed with flavors of sun-dried black cherry, crystallized honey, bread dough and graphite. Spiced finish. Disgorged February 2013. Drink now through 2020. 140 cases imported. (11/2014)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 "Pale gold with a strong mousse. Intensely mineral nose displays Meyer lemon, lime, green apple, pungent herbs and chalky minerals. Clean and finely etched, with energetic citrus, anise and wet stone flavors underscored by honeysuckle and quinine. An uncompromising Champagne that delivers impressive finishing lift, cut and persistence. There's no way that I'd have guessed this wine was made entirely from red grapes."
Wine & Spirits Magazine 91 BEST BUY! "This is 100 percent pinot noir, from 7.5 acres of chalk soils; a portion of the wine (30 percent) is vinified in old oak casks. Youthfully tense, even as it is generous and round, this wine's powerful structure doesn't detract from its fine bubbles. The pinot comes across in scents of strawberries and cinnamon, a match for wood-roasted oysters."
The Wine Advocate 92+ Based on 100% Pinot Noir (90% Bisseuil, 10% Ambonnay), the white-golden NV Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru Brut offers a clear, fresh, intense, pure and spicy-scented bouquet of ripe, sweet cherries along with mineral notes. Based on the 2014 vintage (with 2013 and 2012) and disgorged in March 2018, this is a full-bodied, very fresh cuvée with searing acidity and mineral purity. This is far from being enjoyable today, but it will benefit from further bottle aging. Great tension and mineral grip here. Tasted April 2018.
The Wine Advocate 93 Disgorged in July 2018, the new release of Gonet-Medeville's NV Brut Premier Cru Blanc de Noirs is showing very well, offering up an appealing bouquet of crisp golden orchard fruit, honeycomb, warm biscuits and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with ripe but racy acids, good depth at the core and a delicate mousse. Concentrated and structured, another year on the cork will be rewarded by additional complexity, even though this is approachable now. (5/2020)
