Publication Score Comments
Wine Enthusiast 93 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
With an addition of 5% Petite Sirah, this wine is brooding in a berry fruit tone that mingles with brown sugar, baking spice and coffee. Lifted acidity does a good job reining in the fundamental power and concentration at its core.
Wine Spectator 91 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
Dynamic, if still a bit young and tight, offering compelling briary cherry, dusty sage and white pepper flavors that finish with refined but spirited tannins. Best from 2019 through 2024. 990 cases made
The Wine Advocate 92 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Zinfandel Rockpile Ridge Vineyard features notes of baked plums, blackberry tart and forest floor over nuances of stewed rhubarb, tar and raisin cake. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals plenty of earth and savory layers, framed by chewy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long. 990 cases produced.
